It’s 1974 now, and the terror outside is growing worse by the day. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is definitely at large; students are being taken out of Hogwarts to go to funerals for their family members or friends, and even the staff are on edge.
Students are becoming older and more involved with each other. Tension has sprung up between even the closest of friends, all because they were both interested in the same person. People you never thought would even be friends are frequently seen holding hands. Who will be together in the end? What friendships will survive? You decide.

RULES
1. No illegal activity. This includes porn, copyright infringement, plagiarism, etc.
2. No flaming/rudeness. I've deleted most of the word censors because they're silly, so I'm trusting you guys to keep it to a minimum.
3. Absolutely no netspeak, leet speak, godmodding, or asterisks for actions. Use quotation marks, proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling(if possible). There is a spell check function. If you have trouble typing, try using that. Example: Incorrect - Jackie: *runz over to Sarah* OMG Sarah! Wut happened!
Correct - Jackie ran over to Sarah as fast as her legs could carry her.
"Oh my god, Sarah, what happened?" she cried. "Are you okay? Did you break anything? Go get a teacher!" Jackie shouted to Piper. "Sarah, just keep breathing, hear? In, out, in, out."
Incorrect: "Oh my god, Sarah, what happened?" Jackie cried, tears streaming down her face.
"I..." Sarah tried to speak.
"Don't, Sarah," Piper told her hurriedly. "We're taking you to the hospital wing."
Correct: "Oh my god, Sarah, what happened?" Jackie cried, rushing to Sarah's side and wiping blood off her friend's face. (wait for reply...)
Incorrect - "0mg sarah wat h4pp3nd?!11!? jackie Screamed. running to Sarahz side and neeling down by her side.
Correct - "Oh my god, Sarah, what happened?" Jackie screamed, running to Sarah and kneeling down at her side.
You get the idea. And if you use too much netspeak, I can and will deny your application until you can get your act together.
4. Stay IC. Severus Snape doesn't run around grinning at random people and saying "Hiiiiiiiiii Lils! Ur looking hott today!" Know your character. Love your character. Don't let them slip out of their personality.
5. You may have multiple characters if you want. You MUST make a new account for each character. Make sure it's manageable. Canon characters need to be available more often, especially the main characters. Don't overdo it. If you have like, ten characters, I will ask you to choose some to get rid of. All OCs must be your own creation, and cannot be from any other universe or created by another person. So Nancy Drew, Phoebe Halliwell, and that character your best friend's been writing about - yeah, not allowed. You can ask for help on your character, but I want you to have come up with it. No OC siblings of canon characters will be allowed.
NEW - Since canon characters are proving so popular here, a new rule will be in place for the time being. One canon character per person. It's not really fair if one person has more than one and one person doesn't have any.
6. Avatars, signatures, and usernames.
Avatars can only be 100 x 100 pixels. I would like it if they were of your character, but if you can't find a model you don't really need it. I'm not going to pose a limit on how big signatures can be, but if I feel it's too big, I will PM you and let you know. Do not register with numbers or underscores or things like ~!* in your name. Your account will be denied. It's really hard for me to remember them when I'm trying to PM you (yes, I try to memorise people's usernames).
7. Mods and admins. Obey us or discover our wrath. Prefects will be chosen, not applied for. Generally the most active members who seem responsible enough from each house. Heads of House and a Deputy Head are needed.
8. Owls. Do not send any member of staff spam owls asking for your application to be looked at, or reminding them it's still there, or anthing of the sort. Do not send TF owls about technical problems with the site (there'll be a thread for that), application questions, or random things like 'this is a cool site'. While I like to hear people like my site, I really have better things to do than go through useless owls. If you send too many, I can and will deny your application for bugging me about it too much.
9. Character applications. Unlike Expecto Patronum (which may follow Levicorpus's example), character forms have been outlawed here. I will be posting a form for you to fill out, but I'd like you to fill it out as if you're writing a biography of your character, or an autobiography if you'd like to write it in first person. I am quite picky, so try and get your application to the best it can be. When I'm picky, I'm just trying to help you improve. When I reject something, I give reasons so that you can improve, rewrite, and reapply. So when someone says, "It's for your own good," believe them, because that's what I'm doing here.

10. If you were sent to this site by someone who is already a member, please be nice and Owl one of the staff members to tell them who sent you. You can owl (private message) Suga (shug), Laura (laura), or TF (admin). See the post titled "Members And Activity" in the Entrance Hall.
11. Becoming a mod. Do not ask us how to become a mod. Do not ask us if you can be a mod. Wait and see if we ask you, because if we like you and feel that you'd be a good addition to the staff, we will ask you.

12. How to get a character. First, write out your app (make sure it doesn't have a form in it, and spell check and proofread, please). Then post it in the correct section and wait for it to be accepted or rejected. If it is accepted, please proceed to the Sorting. Once you have been Sorted, you can do whatever you like. Please do not do anything in character before your application is accepted. You wouldn't go to a college or university, apply, and then start going to classes before you were accepted into the program. If your application is rejected, you're probably going to get a little miffed at us (especially TF) because we're a little strict. If you can, try to see past the criticism to what we're really saying. We'd like to have your character here, but there are some things you need to change before you can. There's nothing wrong with your character, it just doesn't fit our standards here. It's nothing against you or your character, it's just how we run our site.
